Homeschooling 7th, 6th, 4th, 1st and pre-K

Our lives jumped a bit this year with Karmin entering into the Challenge program through Classical Conversations.  Life stayed pretty much the same for the other kiddos.

Our weeks consist of:
Monday: Get the day started around 9am...this is a day at home with morning routine of:
-Bible reading and discussion
-CC memory work
-Daily school work that varies for each child and I hope to have them finish by noon.
-I work with the younger ones while the older ones do independent work
-2pm (ish) - daily read aloud by me - this is my favorite time of the day when the kids trace maps or color and I get to sip a cup of coffee and read to them.
Tuesday: We have various classes with a homeschooling group of 160+ kiddos at a large church near by.
Wednesday: K goes to her Challenge A class and I take the younger ones with me in the afternoon where I provide childcare for parents who are in Classical Conversations.
Thursday - another day to stay home
Friday - normal morning routine with piano lessons in the afternoon

Karmin- 7th grade
She meets once a week for 30 weeks with Classical Conversations, Challenge A.  There are 6 subjects she covers with a class that consists of 5 other girls and a tutor who leads them in all the subjects. This year took some adjustment. She spent at least an hour on each subject.  Some days she had longer than an hour.  We found that she is a day dreamer and it took some time to get into a routine.  We also learned that she needed a specific place to do her school work that was interrupted and her room wasn't always and option - she has a difficult time keeping it clean.

Latin
1st year Henle Latin - this correlates with English Grammar
Geography
She will be able to draw the world and identify countries and capitals by the end of 30 weeks.
Writing and literature  (Lost Tools of Writing, persuasive writing)
Every three weeks they ask a "should" question from the book and create a persuasive essay on the side they choose, either affirmative or negative.
These various books are
The Magician's Nephew
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Number the Stars
The Secret Garden
Crispin Cross of Lead
A Door in the Wall
Carry on Mr. Bowditch
Amos Fortune: Freeman
The Bronze Bow

Logic - the books she is reading and discussing class are: The Fallacy Detective and It Couldn't Just Happen.
